Microsoft has announced that the release date for the latest installment in the Gears of War franchise will be the 11th of October. As they will do with Forza Horizon 3 and probably other big and popular titles, the game can be played on Xbox One and PC as well, if you have Windows 10 installed on your system, of course.
In previous Gears of War releases, the main characters were locked in a fierce war of the races with creatures named the Locusts. As other gaming sites have pointed out, this brutal war somehow got in the way of the story, which was not very compelling and didn’t tell much about the heroes featured in the game. This time, the Coalition, the game’s developers, aim to fix that and tell a more personal story of the characters, letting you know what they really care about. We have seen this aspect in some trailers and gameplay videos, such as a short one minute clip, taking place at the Fenix residence, where Marcus, who is still present as one of the characters, is really pissed off about his tomato field getting torn to shreds.
Speaking of Marcus Fenix, he is no longer the main character in Gears of War 4. The story’s main heroes will be Marcus’ son, JD Fenix, Del Walker and Kait. They explore a different part of Sera, full of new locations, as they take on a new race of monsters called Deebees, which are, this time around, some sort of robots. These creatures too will be ugly as fuck, they have weapons and will shoot at you constantly. You can, of course, shoot them and also take them down in brutal hand to hand combat, making for some pretty awesome and bloody executions. You will have many new weapons as well in Gears of War 4, and the developers have introduced long range missile combat. In another gameplay video, we can also see a sort of electric tornado destroying the landscape as your team is trying to get to a safe spot, battling the vicious Deebees in the process. Maybe the weather will be a more important in this installment, or maybe that scene was just for show. We’ll have to wait and see.
You can choose to play the single player, campaign mode by yourself or in co-op, using crossplay on any platform. Furthermore, if you buy a digital copy of game on either PC or Xbox One, you will be able to play the game on the other platform anywhere.
Gears of War 4 will give you some fun and engaging playtime if you’re a fan of post apocalyptic, zombie type shooter or an action/adventure lover.
