The Amiibo Features
If you like having a virtual companion throughout this entertaining adventure, you’re going to love this feature. We have found out there will be at least 4 such companions in The Legend of Zelda Breath of The Wild, but in the E3 gameplay footage, they only show one of them, a wolf. This new friend will follow you around as you explore the open world and can be of great help. It will attack incoming enemies, which will be very useful, especially when you don’t see the approaching danger or the direction it’s coming from. These friendly characters will also roam around and collect valuable items which you can use to upgrade your skills or replenish your health and magic.
From the information we have so far, we know that Breath of The Wild will take place in a land called Hyrule. As for the time period, there are hints, or rather proof that the action won’t take place before Ocarina of Time. In the E3 gameplay, we can see that Hyrule is mostly in ruins, as buildings are mostly buried under the ground, as if some natural disaster had happened and no creature inhabited these lands for a very long time. We can also see previously visited landmarks, such as Death Mountain or The Temple of Time. Most people believe that Breath of The Wild will be set sometime after Wind Waker.
The Guiding Characters
There may be more, but in the demo we got so see only one, which is believed to be a very important piece of the game. He wears a hood and has a big white beard, which makes him look like the lovechild of God and the grim reaper, and appears throughout Link’s adventure in order to give him directions to undiscovered landmarks and locations and also give him useful items from time to time. Apart from this old man, Nintendo say they didn’t want to reveal any more characters at the E3 conference.
In previous installments of The Legend of Zelda, puzzle solving was not very challenging, or shall we say, rather simple, as you only had to flip some switches, push a block or light a torch. This time around, Link will have to rely more on his skills and magic in order to move things around and solve puzzles which are now more physics related. You can do interesting things like calculate the direction of the wind and then start a fire that will go in that certain direction.
Overall, Breath of The Wild seems more like a new game altogether that just another episode of The Legend of Zelda.
